Outback Oasis

Barkly Homestead, a remote roadhouse on the Barkly Highway between Tennant Creek, NT, and Camooweal, QLD, is the only stop for travelers on the 460km stretch between towns. It caters to local cattle stations, mining companies, truckers, aviation crews, road repair teams, and tourists exploring the Australian outback.

“Wow it's a bit different from 6 years ago...

Brand new facilities after 2022 fire. Great bar and beer garden, spacious cafe, souvenir shop and art gallery. Kitchen turning out great food at reasonable prices. ALL staff professional and helpful. Much larger caravan park and motel units well done to the owners, managers and staff for a fantastic outback experience”

“Fantastic Oasis  in outback NT...

I was totally surprised at how good this place is. Huge drive through bays with power & water and the cafe and restaurant are excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. You seem to get a lot of whingers on trip adviser who use this site to bag out a business when it’s more likely their attitude that is at fault. I couldn’t fault this business and after seeing a review the is derogatory it prompted me to do a positive review from my perspective..”

“Defo stop here...

Without doubt the best roadhouse we have stayed at. While traveling to Darwin we stayed a night in an unpowered spot for only $30. Good amount of grass considering it must be crazy hard to keep it growing up here. Toilets and showers superb. Main homestead has been beautifully built with lots of interesting bits and pieces. Meals all great. Felt very welcomed and comfortable the entire stay...”
